Book Club Project Takes Next Step

The Board of Directors of the Friends of the Library has voted to proceed with the "Book Club in a Bag" idea this summer.  The Friends are purchasing four sets of books for book club use, all purchased from the Cloak & Dragon Bookstore, a local Bloomsburg business.  Each bag will have ten copies of the title.

We now have four bags ready for use: "The Shack" by William Young; "No!, I Don"t Want to Join a Book Club" by Virginia Ironside; "The Yiddish Policemen's Union" by Michael Chabon; and, "Suite Francaise" by Irene Nemirovsky. We promise a minimum of rules and regulations and no overdue fines, etc., to hamper book club use.

The idea is simple.  We provide 10 copies of a title.  You provide the book club to read and discuss the title.  You can meet here, or anywhere you wish.  You'll borrow the bag, tell us when your discussion is, and return the bag a few days after your discussion.  You pick the dates.  You decide the loan period.

We'd also love to make up additional bags with donated titles your book club has already read and no longer needs.  If we get close to ten copies of a title, we can start another bag.  Collect your titles and donate them to us as a group so we can save them for the next book club bag.

We need book clubs to give us information on what books they have read, what books they would like to read,  and suggestions for improving this program.
