The idea is simple. We provide up to 10 copies of a title. You provide the book club to read and discuss the title. You can meet here, or anywhere you wish. You'll borrow the bag, tell us when your discussion is, and return the bag a few days after your discussion. You pick the dates. You decide the loan period. No overdue fines. No hassles.
We'd also love to make up additional bags with donated titles your book club has already read and no longer needs. If we get close to ten copies of a title, we can start another bag. Collect your titles and donate them to us as a group so we can save them for the next book club bag.
We need book clubs to give us information on what books they have read, what books they would like to read, and suggestions for improving this program.
Friends of the Library
"Are you a Friend of the Library?"We ask this question often during our membership drive, and most people say "Yes." Who doesn't love the Library? There is a difference, however, between being a friend and being a Friend. So, what does it mean to be a Friend of the Library?
At a recent Friends' meeting, Library Director Hal Pratt described it this way: Think of the Library as a bowl of ice cream, a wonderful treat. Can it be improved? Of course, and the enhancements of bananas, whipped cream, syrup, jimmies, or whatever you like best, make that bowl of ice cream very special.
That's what Friends are. We add the toppings. We enhance the Library through our efforts to improve the choice of materials, the appearance and the programming. We do this through membership, book sales, and book bag sales. In the last five years, we, the Friends, have purchased more than $15,000 in added benefits for our Library.
This year, when you renew your membership, or become a new Friend, try to think of one other person who might be willing to sprinkle some jimmies on the ice cream. Together, we can make this Library something even more special. Thank you for your support.
